fut0002 - Create the dragon texture using various material tools

In this tutorial, you will create a dragon skin texture using various material tools in eyeon Fusion. Figure 1 shows the final output.

The following steps are required to add texture to the dragon:

1. Download the fut0002.rar from the following link: http://www.mediafire.com/?dsutd0tjmqib9bt


2. Extract contents of the zipped file to the folder of your choice on the disk.


3. Choose the BG button from the toolbar; the Background1 tool tile is inserted in the Flow area.


4. In the Color tab of the Background1 tool control window, set the values of the following parameters:


   R: 1 G: 1 B: 1 A: 1


5. Choose the LD button from the toolbar; the Open File dialog box is displayed. Navigate the folder and select Dragon.tiff then choose the Open button. Next, press 1 to the view the output in the left Display View. Figure 2 shows the output of the Loader1 tool in the left Display View.

6. Make sure the Loader1 tool tile is selected in the Flow area. Choose the XF button from the toolbar; the Transform1 tool tile is selected in the Flow area. 

7. In the Transform1 tool control window, set the values of the following parameters:


   Center

   X: 1.16       Y: 1.42

   Size: 2.5


   Aspect: 1.6


8. Click on the red output of the Transform1 tool to the red output of the Background1 tool; the Merge1 tool is inserted in the Flow area. Press 1; the output of the Merge1 tool is displayed in the left Display View. 


9. Enter 3 in the Size edit box of the Merge1 tool control window. Figure 3 shows the output of the Merge1 tool in the left Display View.

10. Click in the empty space of the Flow area. Next, choose the LD button from the toolbar; the Open File dialog box is displayed and select texture.png then choose the Open button from the  dialog box.

11. Choose Tools > 3D > Texture > BumpMap from the menubar; the BumpMap1 tool tile is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Loader2 and BumpMap1 tools is established.


12. Enter 2 in the Height Scale edit box of the BumpMap tool control window.


13. Press 1; the output of the BumpMap1 tool is displayed in the left Display View. Figure 4 shows the output of BumpMap1 tool in the left Display View.

14. Choose Tools > 3D > Material > Blinn from the menubar; the Blinn1 tool is inserted in the Flow area. Next, click on the red output node of the Loader2 tool and drag it to the orange node of the Blinn1 tool; a connection between the Blinn1 and Loader2 tools is established.

15. Press 2; the output of the Blinn1 tool is displayed in the right Display View. Next, click on the red output node of the BumpMap1 tool to the white node of the Blinn1 tool; a connection between the Blinn1 and BumpMap1 tools is established.


Figure 5 shows the output of the Blinn1 is displayed in the right Display View.

16. Make sure the Blinn1 tool tile is selected in the Flow area and then choose Tools > 3D > Shape3D from the menubar; the Shape3D1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Shape3D1 and Blinn1 tools is established.

17. Click in the empty space of the Flow area and then choose Tools > 3D > Merge3D from the menubar; the Merge3D1 tool is inserted in Flow area. Next, click on the red output node of the Shape3D1 tool to the orange input node of the Merge3D1 tool; a connection between the Merge3D1 and Shape3D1 tools is established.


18. Press 2; the output of the Merge3D1 tool is displayed in the right Display View. 



19. Make sure the Merge3D1 tool tile is selected in the Flow area and then choose Tools > 3D > Light > Point Light from the menubar; the PointLight1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the PointLight1, Merge3D1, Shape3D1 tools is established.


20. Enter 1.7 in the Intensity edit box of the PointLight1 tool control window.



Figure 6 shows the output of the Merge3D1 is displayed in the right Display View.

21. Choose the 3Rn button from the toolbar; a connection between the Merge3D1 and Renderer3D1 tools is established.

22. Press 2; the output of the Renderer3D1 tool is displayed in the right Display View. 


23. Choose Tools > Transform > Crop from the menubar; the Crop1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Crop1 and Renderer3D1 tools is established.


24. In the Crop1 tool control window, set the values of the following parameters:


     X Offset: 554          Y Offset: 308

      
     X Size: 940            Y Size: 940 

25. Click on the red output of the Crop1 tool to the red output of the Merge1 tool; the Merge2 tool is inserted in the Flow area. Press 1; the output of the Merge1 tool is displayed in the left Display View. 


26. Click in the empty space of the Flow area and then choose the Ply button from the toolbar; the Polygon1 tool is inserted in the Flow area. Next, create a polygon around the dragon, refer to Figure 7.

27. Click on the red output node of the Polygon1 tool to the purple node of the Merge2 tool; a connection between the Polygon1 and Merge2 tools is established.

28. In the Merge2 tool control window, set the values of the following parameters:


   Size : 2.9


   Apply Mode : Multiply



Figure 8 shows the output of the Merge3D1 is displayed in the left Display View.

29. Click in the empty space of the Flow area and then choose LD button from the toolbar; the Open File dialog box is displayed and select eye.jpg then choose the Open button.

30. Make sure the Loader3 tool tile is selected in the Flow area and then choose the Elp button from the toolbar; the Ellipse1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Ellipse1 and Loader3 tools is established.

31. In the Ellipse1 tool control window, set the values in the following parameters:


   Center

   X: 0.57             Y: 0.45

   Width: 0.45       Height: 0.45


32. Click on the red output of the Loader3 tool to the red output of the Merge2 tool; the Merge3 tool is inserted in the Flow area. Press 1; the output of the Merge1 tool is displayed in the left Display View. 


33. In the Merge3 tool control window, set the values in the following parameters:


   

   Center
   X: 0.44       Y: 0.8

  Angle: -30


Figure 9 shows the output of the textured dragon.
