fut0005 - How to change the color of an element in an image

Tutorial 3 of Chapter 7 (Color Tools) from The eyeon Fusion 6.3 book:

In this tutorial, you will change the color of an element in the image by using the Hue Curves tool. The final output of the composition is shown in Figure 1.

The following steps are required to complete this tutorial:

1. Open the following link: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1149337; an image is displayed. 


2. Download the image on your hard drive and then rename it as t-shirt.jpg.

3. Choose the LD button from the toolbar; the Open File dialog box is displayed. Navigate to the folder where you have saved the downloaded file and then select t-shirt.jpg. Next, choose the Open button.

4.  Press 1; the output of the Loader1 tool is displayed in the left Display View.

5. Choose the Fit button from the left Display View toolbar to fit the image into the Display View, refer to Figure 2.

6.  Make sure the Loader1 tool tile is selected in the Flow area and then choose the Rsz button from the toolbar; the Resize1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Resize1 and Loader1 tools is established.

7. Press 1; the output of the Resize1 tool is displayed in the left Display View.

8. In the Resize1 tool control window, select the Keep Frame Aspect check box.

9.  Select the Resize1 tool tile from the Flow area and then choose the HCv button from the toolbar; the HueCurves1 tool is inserted in the Flow area and a connection between the Resize1 and HueCurves1 tools is established.

10. Press 2; the output of the HueCurves1 tool is displayed in the right Display View. Next, choose the Fit button from the right Display View toolbar to fit the image into the Display View.

The HueCurves1 tool is used to adjust the color of an image by using multiple spline curves. These curves control the hue, saturation, luminance, and color channels of an image. You an also suppress the color channels by using these curves.

Next, you will change the color of the t-shirt in the image.

11. In the HueCurves1 tool control window, clear the Sat check box and then select the Hue and Blue check boxes.

12. Adjust the shape of the spline,  refer to Figure 3. After adjusting the shape, the output of the HueCurves1 tool is displayed, refer to Figure 4.
